Circa 1908 - Lauren and Matt
I couldn't resist posting more than my normal amount of images for this wedding. Lauren is a costume designer, and she and Matt designed the wedding to emulate the year of 1908, complete with choice of music and dress. The Berkeley Ferryboat served as the perfect vintage backdrop for their theme.
I've photographed some gorgeous dresses, but this one has a special place on the list. She assembled different parts of it from different sources, and kept everything authentic.
The following three are some of my favorites, the contrast of modern and vintage as they make their way to the ceremony.
Their flowergirl was barely old enough to walk down the aisle. I loved this shot I took on the fly, her little fingers and the petals.
Playfulness is a difficult thing to capture. Lauren and Matt really let me in and opened up their fun sides.
Even their first dance was straight from turn of the century. Imagine ballroom dancing at the pace of swing.
The best parts of a wedding are small moments of affection between the bride and groom. They happen not during but between the choreographed events, when no one is watching. There's a sincerity to it this way, and these moments show up at different times for each wedding.
Yeah, that's right. He wore the garter.
Another small moment of affection, this time in conversation between father and daughter before her departure.
