Kathy and Scott

I'm all about Japanese aesthetics, and so when Kathy asked me to photograph at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Balboa Park, I was immediately on board. She and Scott live in the northern California town of Vacaville, and so while traveling this summer I offered to meet up with them in Napa Valley for some portraits. It's rare to have such laid back clients as these - they were truly fun-loving people, and their families were the same.

Their son again. This is an example of my favorite type of portrait, a candid moment taken while he was listening to the toasts. I'm sure he knew I was there, but like his parents he was very mellow and cool, not caring or paying attention to me in the least (exactly how I like it).
